It’s with a very heavy heart I announce the passing of Rex Waller – Uncle Rex – a very longtime customer, a dear friend and a true gentleman. Rex had his first pint in The Unicorn in mid May 1944 just before shipping off to join the flotilla for the D-Day invasions, he mentioned this many times as he thought he may not return, but return he did and frequented the pub on and off ever since. Rex always had a kind word and sound advice, he will be sorely missed but always remembered. Rest in peace Rex. We will have a large Highland Park in your memory, sir.
